ScentAura AI ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account Information: Name, email address, and authentication credentials (managed by Clerk)
• Profile Data: Skin type, body temperature, hydration level, activity level, climate, and fragrance preferences
• Fragrance Collection: Names, brands, and details of fragrances you add to your collection
• Usage Logs: Spray logs, wear counts, compliment tracking, and routine information
• Onboarding Responses: Your answers to onboarding questions about fragrance preferences and goals

Automatically Collected Information

• Location Data: Your approximate location (city/region) to provide weather-based fragrance recommendations. We only collect location data when you use the app and have granted permission. Location data is not stored permanently and is used solely for real-time weather lookups.
• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version
• Usage Analytics: App interactions, feature usage, and crash reports (if analytics are enabled)

Data from Third-Party Services

• Weather Data: Temperature and weather conditions from Open-Meteo (a free, public weather API)
• Fragrance Information: Publicly available fragrance data from SerpApi for product searches

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide personalized fragrance recommendations based on weather, body chemistry, and preferences
• Track your fragrance collection and usage patterns
• Calculate your "Aura Score" based on time elapsed and routine habits
• Send notifications for daily reminders and reapplication alerts (only if you enable notifications)
• Improve app functionality and user experience
• Maintain your account and provide customer support
• Analyze usage patterns to enhance features (anonymized data only)

AI Processing

We use AI services (OpenAI GPT and Google Gemini) to:

• Generate fragrance recommendations based on your profile and weather
• Provide fragrance information and scent profiles
• Analyze scent quality over time

Important: Your personal data (name, email) is not sent to AI services. Only fragrance-related information and anonymized profile data (skin type, climate, etc.) is processed by AI.

Data Storage and Security

Data Storage

• Your account data is stored securely on Supabase (a secure, encrypted cloud database)
• Authentication is handled by Clerk using industry-standard security practices
• Notification preferences are stored locally on your device
• We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission

Data Retention

• Account data is retained while your account is active
• You can delete your account at any time through Profile → Delete Account
• Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days
• Anonymized usage statistics may be retained for analytics purposes

Security Measures

• End-to-end encryption for data transmission
• Secure authentication tokens with automatic expiration
• Regular security audits of third-party services
• No storage of sensitive financial information (in-app purchases handled by Apple/Google)

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

1. Clerk (Authentication) – Account creation and login. Data shared: Email, name, authentication tokens. Privacy Policy.
2. Supabase (Database) – Store your profile and fragrance data. Data shared: All app data except authentication. Privacy Policy.
3. OpenAI (AI Recommendations) – Generate fragrance recommendations. Data shared: Fragrance info, anonymized profile data. Privacy Policy.
4. Google Gemini (AI Analysis) – Analyze scent quality scores. Data shared: Fragrance data, anonymized profile info. Privacy Policy.
5. Open-Meteo (Weather) – Weather-based recommendations. Data shared: Location coordinates (not stored). Privacy Policy.
6. SerpApi (Fragrance Search) – Search fragrance database. Data shared: Fragrance names and brands. Privacy Policy.

Your Rights and Choices

Access and Control

• View Your Data: Access all your data through the app's Profile section
• Update Information: Edit your profile and fragrance collection at any time
• Delete Account: Permanently delete your account and all associated data through Profile → Delete Account
• Export Data: Contact us at supportteam@scentaura.app to request a copy of your data

Location Permissions

You can enable or disable location access at any time in your device settings. The app will still function without location access, but weather-based recommendations will not be available.

Notification Permissions

You can enable or disable notifications through the app's Notification Settings. You can revoke notification permissions at any time in your device settings.

Analytics

Currently, we do not collect analytics, but if enabled in future versions, you will be notified and can opt out.

Children's Privacy

ScentAura AI is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at supportteam@scentaura.app.

International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Displaying an in-app notification when you next open the app
